Professional swimmer Eric Reuss of Germany participates in the Europa Cup, 6000 m. open water professional race in Copenhagen canals during the Copenhagen Swim event in August 2017. The event is held on a truly iconic course - around the Danish Parliament Buildings (Christiansborg). In Danish the swim is called ‘Christiansborg Rundt’ – to swim around Christiansborg. Copenhagen municipality invested in the better treatment of waste water in the city and about 10 years ago the water quality in the harbor improved so much that it is now safe to swim in Copenhagen canals.
