Marking Calves
Jair Rosa, cowboy supervisor, vaccinates calves, marks them but cutting off parts of their ears and disinfect what's left of the umbilical cord while other cowboys (peões) chase the calf's mother away for the duration of the procedure. Pastures on the Fazenda São Lourenço can reach 3000 acres in size. 14,000 cows graze on the entire ranch that spans 123,500 acres. The fazenda is located in the central part of Pantanal, Brazil.
